Reason and the blind

Human beings, we are capable of wonderful things, but we are also capable of deceiving others and deluding ourselves into believing lies.

It takes a while to develop a radar for unethical behavior and learn to recognize the people who are likely to take advantage of the kindhearted, but once you do, you develop the kind of power and authority that can move mountains, well, not literally.

I cannot help but feel unnerved by those who can’t find it in themselves to say something is wrong and who by doing so in essence condone unethical behavior. But I take comfort in knowing that there will come a day when the reason they should have said something unravels itself; that there will come a day when the deliberate blindness they put themselves under will become obliterated.

In the mean time, I will continue to take comfort in the fact that I can see, and will continue to be thankful for this blessing.
